Slightly inaccurate in the second part of the gif... You don't actually go through the portal until you get much closer, I don't know what was up with that.

Anyway, this is currently just a proof of concept for portals being able to change entity momentum depending on speed of entry. It uses the new fact that mobs collide with other entities to push you in the direction you move. That above portal has a bunch of invisible NoAI creepers sitting still, waiting to push me.

If I put more work into it, I can implement this into the full portal system I have lying around. It would use some scoreboard to determine player speed on entry, then generate the appropriate number of mobs at the other portal to give you that boost out, then remove them. Complicated, but possible.

Minecraft servers at their finest. If you want that visual bug fixed, go up vote [MC-4686], which is a slightly different issue but I believe also causes your issue. Plus for some portals that bug would be a problem.

Not at the moment, the commands in this gif were hardcoded for this case.

Once I get it to work consistently, I'll merge it with the rest of my portal system and the answer will be yes :)

This reminds me of a map in Minecraft 1.3 that used a bukkit plugin to do this and still works in 1.8 on a bukkit 1.8 server. You had to use a snowball and throw it while in midair to get the right momentum.

with all this portal stuff I sort of want to get back to working on my portal map. my main issue was command block lag, but thats not really a problem anymore with the new command blocks.
