I will upvote anything that has to do with Terraria in Minecraft, because both are great games.

Sorry about the speedy and confusing gfy -- the 15-second time limit is very restrictive, so I might have to clear some things up here.
Basically, there are eight items you can craft that make you immune to certain status effects.
Trifold Map, glowing
Fast Clock, slowness
Bezoar, poison
Nazar, levitation
Vitamins, weakness
Megaphone, hunger (Your stomach is intimidated by your loud voice)
Adhesive Bandage, wither
Armor Polish, mining fatigue
They all have a crafting recipe of 2-3 items in stacks anywhere from 1 to 20. I'm too lazy to go over every crafting recipe, so yeah.
Anyway, just holding one of these items in your inventory will render you immune to its status effect. Renaming it or whatever won't remove its ability, but crafting it into something else via vanilla crafting grid will.
The eight items can be combined into four advanced items. The map can be merged with the clock, etc. Each of these combines the abilities of its components, so it's twice as efficient!
Once you have all four of those, craft them together to get the ankh charm, rendering you immune to eight pesky status effects just by having it in your inventory!
Additionally, lighting 20 obsidian on fire will give you a piece of gray dye obsidian shield, which makes you immune to knockback if you hold it in your main or off-hand.
Craft the obsidian shield with the ankh charm and you have everyone's favorite Terraria accessory--the Ankh Shield. You're immune to knockback and several annoying debuffs. Note: obsidian and ankh shield may not protect against meteorite ore.

Now you have to add shields and narzars to the dungeon, Jellyfish or pixies for a megaphone, bees for the bezoar, pixies again for fast clock, corruptors for the vitamins, but everything else has a minecraft counterpart that you would just have to make them drop
i expect terraria in vanilla in 2017

If I had more resources and people (especially people who can build), I'd love to make a command block-based Terraria map in Minecraft.

That would be really fun to create! Unfortunately the amount of command blockers and terrarians are hardly present
