Hate to break it to you friend, it's not the redstone that's weird.

You most likely powered the redstone lamp and that single dot of redstone with the invisible redstone trick created by /u/phnixhamsta after checking if certain places in the world had redstone wire on it or not. I'm sorry, but that one was a bit too easy to see through. I'm so punny...

Nope, no trickery here. This is actual redstone behavior when you do what I described below. I guess I should've come up with a better demonstration.

Well... that's weird...

It would have been better if you'd shown the commands doing it as well.

So you replaced a redstone lamp with a powered redstone lamp thanks to command blocks?

Evtema3 ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 11:51:52 on June 14, 2015 ยท (Permalink)

No, OP probably used /u/phnixhamsta's invisible redstone trick to power the redstone lamp.

What's going on here is I have one command block filing any redstone wire around me with powered wire.

I have no idea why it does this.

Warning: This may not be fully accurate.
I think this is because of how these two devices are powered. This system, since there's no power source, is causing very rapid redstone pulses to run through the wires. The lamp is able to stay on, because it has a shutdown delay after it's unpowered. The piston is being powered, but the power is too instantaneous to let the piston extend for a full redstone tick. This may be like a zero-tick redstone pulse for the piston. See what happens when you place a block atop the piston. I've attempted to explain everything but the powered redstone dust. I'm unsure about that.

tl; dr: The redstone is toggling to rapidly for the piston, while the lamp sees it as constant power due to its shutdown delay.
