A little while ago I created spectral arrows which could be used to place torches. Now I have a command block module thing that allows a few more arrow types to be crafted.
TNT arrow shot at a block or a mob creates a TNT explosion
Fire arrow shot at a block sets it on fire
Volley arrow drops arrows as it arcs and is currently way OP for its price
Ender arrow will teleport you to wherever it hits
All arrows are multiplayer friendly and can be crafted individually or in stacks of 64 (16 for the ender arrow).
To craft, throw the items next to each other on the ground. Recipes use glowstone dust, TNT, fire charges, flint, or ender pearls.

So how is this for custom maps? How friendly is it to put into a map, and how friendly is it for the end user? Can I name the custom arrows? What are the recipes? Do you think this could be fit into a CTM map? And finally, this works for the entire map as long as the command wizardy is in the spawn chunk?

Custom maps? Perfect.
Friendly? One click will add it.
Name arrows? The display name of the arrow item does not affect its arrow type. You can rename any custom arrow and it will still work.
Recipes? Arrow (or stack) plus one (or stack) of glowstone dust, TNT, fire charges, flint, or ender pearls.
Fit into CTM? Should work fine.
Works for whole map? Yep.

Paste the command found in one of those pastebin links into a command block and power it.
After that, you can freely craft and shoot the custom arrows in your world.

It marks the spawn chunks only -- everything outside of that is stone. I just did it with mcedit.

might be dumb question, how did you get the checkerboard ground? is it a texture pack or a custom flatworld?
