Enchanted Horse Armor in Vanilla Minecraft!

[deleted] ยท 19 points ยท Posted at 02:06:26 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Now that we have enchanted horse armour, time to torture all our horses!

Now please explain this to me

I threw the horse underwater to drown*. He did.

*No animals were harmed in the making of this invention.

[deleted] ยท 20 points ยท Posted at 02:41:33 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

It didn't feel any pain

It just died

[deleted] ยท 6 points ยท Posted at 03:13:11 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

That feeling of not being able to get oxygen isn't good but, when the brain is depleted of Oxygen it causes the body to go into a euphoric like state.

There is a lot pain in your head and in your chest as you can not take a breath in, it is torturous and painful. Eventually your brain tells your oxygen deprived lungs to take a breath even though you are still under water and your lungs collapse.

Nice and pain free, huh?

supermonkie90 ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 04:41:19 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

But you only lose half a heart at a time, so it can't be THAT damaging. Plus OP gave him the armor when he started taking damage so he was fine!

[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 14:45:51 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Only losing half a heart at a time means your lungs are slowly collapsing and you start to panic, and you start dying a slow, painful death.

[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 12:26:06 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Eh

I see your point

But it's a horse made of pixels

DincocolorYawn ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 06:07:04 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

You forgot "...until I gave him respiration armor! Yay!"

[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 14:41:31 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

I think OP drowned a horse, and then gave another horse respiration armour. Or was that the same horse, and he saved it from drowning?

DincocolorYawn ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 20:36:25 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

It's the same.

[deleted] ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 20:50:01 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

It's not. One way, one horse lives, one horse dies. The other way, no horses die.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ tryashtar ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 21:57:50 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Take heart in knowing that Horsey McTestHorse was rescued from drowning and still lives on!

[deleted] ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 22:16:01 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

That reminds me of a cow I was playing around with last night. I had spawned in a bunch, and playing around with tnt, but one baby cow survived. He was the chosen one.

I splashed him with health potions to get his health back up, and then surrounded him with fire. He ran right through the flames and started to die. So I kept splashing him with health potions.

So I then named him "Stupid cow" and put him in a hole, but he climbed out, once again running through flames. Every time he took damage, I would splash him. I didn't want to accidentally kill the chosen one.

I tried to get him in a hole I made, this time 2 deep and surrounded with fire. I tried to nudge him in. He burned. So I splashed him.

I tried to use a lead to get him in. He burned. So I splashed him.

I attached a lead, flew up, and gently lowered him down into a pool of water. He was safe! This was boring of course, so I let him out.

Playing around with leads some more, I flew around with him hanging below me and went to place him gently down on the ground. I don't know if this is a bug, but no matter how hard you put down an animal onto the ground when it's attached to a lead (let's say you're flying around holding the animal and place it down on the ground) it will die. No matter how hard you place it down.

He died. RIP Mr. StupidCow

You didn't say how so I'll guess. give a score to any horse entity with an inventory of an item with an enchant of protection, then give any horse entity with that score the resistance effect?

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ tryashtar ยท 5 points ยท Posted at 04:11:57 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Yes, that's how most of them work--set score, give scaling potion effect. I would give out a world download for anyone who wants to see, but I'm leaving for a few weeks early tomorrow and won't have access to my saves

Ebidz13 ยท 6 points ยท Posted at 06:07:29 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

So this isnt possible without the use of command blocks? You sure? I think i recall a time when i could do this with an anvil and a book... I'll test it in the morning...

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ tryashtar ยท 5 points ยท Posted at 11:01:48 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Yeah, you can enchant it with books in creative--it just won't do anything. This system makes the enchantments function.

tggt00 ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 12:54:07 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

well that turns the shit everywhere I thought it worked and you just needed to enchant the armor. now that's not as cool as I thought it would be, I thought it's a secret feature!

CVGTI ยท -2 points ยท Posted at 09:22:42 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

No he used command blocks to actually enchant it in the enchanting table.

NuclearWeakForce ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 02:55:14 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Could you explain how the feather falling works, and can it also work on players?

(I can't use feather falling armor, because I have a stat.damageTaken scoreboard, and armor, enchants, and resistance don't help against that)

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ tryashtar ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 04:10:19 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

I'm actually not sure if it even stopped damage there (the 1/2 heart saved was probably a result of the armor itself), but it gives the horse a jump boost effect. It doesn't affect your space-holding jump, but still (should) reduce fall damage

TheZombiesOnTheBus ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 04:31:44 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

How does this work!?

[deleted] ยท -7 points ยท Posted at 03:21:41 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)*

feather falling has always been the most useless enchantment..

Edit: I was wrong. so so wrong. so much time has passed. I am a convert..

JefferyTheWalrus ยท 12 points ยท Posted at 03:33:17 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Really? What about Thorns, or Bane of Arthropods?

[deleted] ยท 5 points ยท Posted at 03:37:50 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

haha I forgot those even exist.

firemaster ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 04:54:36 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

But thorns is good!

Guy_With_A_Hat ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 23:37:37 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Not in the slightest. It does minuscule damage to enemies, gives them free invincibility frames, and does extra damage to your armor.

firemaster ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 00:23:58 on June 25, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

It helps in PvP

Guy_With_A_Hat ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 00:42:22 on June 25, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

It's abhorrent in PvP for the very same reasons: minuscule damage while still giving invulnerability frames.

jfb1337 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 11:50:59 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Thorns damages mobs whenever they damge you! Guardians have it automatically. Bane of arthos... Easier to kill silverfish if you're mining in an extreme hills biome or a stronghold? Also spiders and cave spiders? But pretty much useless.

SonicWage ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 12:39:45 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Bane Of arthropods is good for spiders too...

Namington ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 03:41:38 on June 25, 2014 ยท (Permalink)*

Thorns also makes your armour break very quickly and increases the cost of repair significantly, all for a small chance of about 2 hearts of damage per hit.

chikn_nugets ยท 7 points ยท Posted at 07:35:47 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Feather falling is probably one the best enchants to have if you're the kind of person who likes taking large leaps. Especially useful when building large structures and need a quick way down that probably wont kill you.

[deleted] ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 08:31:26 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

the amount of damage it prevents is what makes it useless in my opinion. it's not so much "feather fall" as it is "foot pillows". also, buckets are the absolute safest way to get down.

CVGTI ยท 5 points ยท Posted at 09:24:20 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

WHat tier of feather falling do you use? Because with Feather Falling IV you can fall 127 blocks and just survive.

[deleted] ยท 0 points ยท Posted at 16:58:56 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

wat. I haven't used it in forever because it was useless last time I used it. maybe.. maybe I should try it again..

Turtle19_ ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 02:42:57 on June 25, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Moral of the story:

do research unless you know for sure.

[deleted] ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 14:44:52 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Not so useless when you combine it with Protection IV and Unbreaking III, and have Feather Falling IV. This makes the best boots in the game (aside from the new 1.8 depth strider enchantment) and you can jump like 50 blocks with only boots on and take 3 hearts of damage. Let's see you try that with no boots on. No. It wont work. Because you'll die.

Coylie3 ยท -2 points ยท Posted at 11:51:20 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

Command blocks not necessary. You can have the enchantment book and the armor and go to an anvil.

TheLuca ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 12:56:06 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

He used the command blocks to get the enchantment effects. Anvils will enchant them, but the enchantment won't do anything.

Coylie3 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 14:30:17 on June 24, 2014 ยท (Permalink)

So that's what happens? Thanks, I didn't know they had no effect if used with an anvil,
