Wage slave at Subway here, just trying to make some cash until I figure out what to do with my degree. Well, the restaurant business is certainly out of the picture for me, considering what entitled assholes half my customers are.
Enter old couple. F for female and M for male:
M: I'd like a footlong sub.
F: I'd like a six inch sub.
Me: What kind of bread?
M/F: Wheat.
Me: Can do. *pull out two footlongs*
F: Excuse me! I wanted a six inch sub!!
Me: Ma'am I have to cut the bread first. *cuts bread long ways, then in half* What kind of sub would y--?
F: Uhhh is that really six inches?
M: Don't skimp out on my wife, kid.
Me: Yes, I assure you it is.
M: Doesn't look it.
Me: Here. *slides bread over toward our ruler* Oh would you look at that?! I accidentally cut you a seven inch! Let me adjust that for you! *meticulously slices off 3/4" of bread* That'll do it!

Same here, saw a subway commercial the other day where they handed them an unwrapped sandwich on a tray. I have never seen that before and Subway is my second backup choice after Whataburger.

Just an FYI. It depends on location. I have a bunch of Subway locations near me. A couple do trays if you are planning to eat in but the rest just wrap it regardless.

I've worked as a subway employee for multiple years, have been to 30+ subway locations. I have never had a sub not wrapped. Some aren't put in bags, some have trays if you eat in, some don't. But 0 have ever not been wrapped.

Yes, Virginia. But if someone is expressing shock and scandal that (AMAZEMENT!!!) something didn't happen... when it has never happened at any I have been to... what on earth are the odds that I magically have only been to subways that don't do it while all of the others do.
More likely, the expectations of the customer that they do this are unreasonable. It just isn't something subway does consistently.

I wish I could get out. I've been with the same owners since April and I want nothing more than to find work that I actually enjoy that's pertinent to my degree, rather than the standard "oh you should just teach!" (I have a masters in Spanish linguistics)

I used to sell strawberries at a local marketplace, We had these boxes that had volume of 1 liter, well, instead of first putting the berries in the 1 liter measurer thingy, i put them straight in to the box and i used to overfill the box so it was well over a liter in those. The times people didnt believe there was a liter in that box is unreal, so if they insisted to prove it, i filled the 1 liter measurer thingy and then put it in to the box, the box then had WAY less stuff in it. Just to be an asshole i always said "Here's the one i offered for the price of an liter, and here's the one you wanted" they never had the nerve after that to insist i give them the one that had more in it and they settled for the inferior amount. Good times.

I used to do that kinda stuff all the time! I worked at a pretty well known sandwich place in the US for a year and people who were cool and nice would get the largest portions of everything from me.
But the second you act entitled or complain that "it seems like you all never put the correct amount of ____ on my sandwich" I break out the training books and follow everything to a T

I used to work at a Subway with a drive through - we were open late and invariably, 2 minutes before I turn off the sign some dickhead rolls in and wants a bunch of sandwiches and I have to make a mess of the line I just cleaned to a shine.
One night someone asks for 3 footlong sweet onion chicken teriyaki subs with everything on them. We had recently gotten some new toppings and when I went to clarify "everything" with him, he copped an attitude with me, "Yes, dude, everything."
He basically got 3 shredded carrot sandwiches with a tiny sprinkle of our other toppings.

Yes, those of us with bright neon colored hair, Tapout t-shirts, and Snapchat filters make the assholes in my age group easy to identify.
At least it isn't ingrained in every facet of my generation's being to the point where it is hard to identify if someone is being an asshole or is just an old person.
