Ok, so let me just explain why I think so. I go to sleep at 5:00-5:30. I've got one alarm for 8:00, then another one for 10:00 and another one for 12:00. So that is 3 chances to LD. This morning I decided to try FILD "the proper way" as some guy stated and all three of them turned into what felt like an hour long LD! That equals like 2'30" hours of LD EVERY SINGLE DAY! So I'm sorry if it doesn't work for you.
ACTUAL GUIDE: The alarm wakes you up. You're all grumpy and already passing out. Now is the time to do the FILD (play piano with two fingers on the bed.) Concentrate on your hand and think about lucid dreaming. Tell yourself that when you do a reality check, it will work and you will open your eyes to find yourself in a dream bed. Just continue to do that until you get really drowsy and you can't concentrate on your hand anymore. When that moment hits, calmly pinch your nose and try breathing. I've found finger RC's to be inefficient here, because they wake you up. If you for some reason get jolted awake by the reality check, set your alarm for 20 minutes later, go to sleep and then try it again. If it doesn't work and the reality check always sends you to an awake state, try playing piano for a little longer and imagining the dream world.
IMPORTANT NOTE: After you're done "playing the piano", don't tell yourself "Ah, I can feel that I'm awake, it won't work." DO the reality check. I can't emphasise enough but you have to stop saying that, ever. I said the same to myself this morning and it felt real af, I was convinced that I was in my bed, awake, but when I did a RC my whole room changed and poof - I was in a LD. That's the main mistake most people make.
Thanks for your time and I hope it works for you too! Again, I'm sorry if it doesn't and I wasted your time, but you can always try it the next day. After all everyone is different. Please tell me if it worked out for you, I'd be glad.

Wwait..you go to sleep at 5 am?
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 34 points ยท Posted at 18:04:55 on January 6, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Slight insomnia and bad schedule.
[deleted] ยท 7 points ยท Posted at 03:50:26 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
So are you normally still getting 8-10 hours of sleep, it's just at more "delayed"/strange time schedules?
FirelordHeisenberg ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 02:36:13 on January 10, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Is it really that uncommon? I know a lot of people who go to sleep 5~6am and wake up 12pm to have lunch and go to work/school. I'm one of those people myself.

Your "important note" has to be one of the biggest keys to lucid dreaming. I've heard that most folks just dream of waking up and going about their morning routines on a pretty regular basis. Get in the habit of checking when you know you're wide awake and sometimes you'll find you're not. I've caught a few LDs by doing RCs in them when everything seems fine.

I agree. It hurts me when I think of how many dreams I could've missed the past 3 months.
[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 00:18:45 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Damn it I woke up like this this morning. I swore it was real. Hopefully it wasn't lucid.

I'll make a quick tutorial for prolonging lucid dreams later, you can click on my profile and it should pop out if it's done.

Are you using a normal alarm clock and turning it off manually when it goes off?
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 10 points ยท Posted at 00:55:11 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
No, actually I should've mentioned this. There is an app called Alarm clock pro (but I'm sure there are free ones, just search for alarm apps)
I've made it so the alarm dismisses itself after 20 seconds of ringing. This way I don't have to move and wake myself up.
[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 01:06:23 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Okay, cool. I was wondering because i have an app called Alarm Clock Bud which does it as well.
Would you say 20 seconds is enough? I've tried 10 seconds but it didn't wake me up.
Also, would you recommend harsh or soothing alarm sounds?
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 01:09:26 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Soothing, definitely. The whole point is for you to be drowsy when they get you up.
I usually went with 45 seconds, because nothing else could wake me up, but after 3 months of keeping the alarms at the same time it's easier and I set them to 20 seconds. Experiment.
[deleted] ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 01:16:40 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Thanks. I'll try a longer one tonight.
TheRealDardan ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 20:22:46 on January 9, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
So you use 'AutoSnooze' with that app right? How do I make it automatically stop after 10 seconds and then not play again?
I haven't yet used the app
[deleted] ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 20:38:53 on January 9, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Yeah turn all the other snooze options off and turn snooze to one time and turn on autosnooze to the desired time

Is it necessary to not move and turn off the alarm though?
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 16:33:39 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Kind of, might disrupt you.
UglyBunnyJase ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 05:59:27 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Exactly which app is it? Do you mind posting a link? Thanks!
MercaMina ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 07:55:29 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
for android look for AlarmDroid, works great.
UglyBunnyJase ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 06:39:38 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Yeah; I got Alarm Clock Pro for iPhone and it doesn't have the option to turn off the alarm after 20 seconds. Maybe you have Android?
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 16:35:35 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
What?
If you open the alarm there should be an "Auto-dismiss duration" button. Isn't there one on the iOS?
Jedi_Pacman ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 02:26:51 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
What RC do you recommend here? I only know hand ones.
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 4 points ยท Posted at 16:36:27 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Pinching your nose and exhaling and inhaling through it works fine. If you're in a dream, even if you pinch it, you can normally breathe through it.
[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 06:43:02 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Yeah, I mean techniques like WILD, FILD, ... are "real" techniques. I mean you don't "lose" consciousness so it's very hard to not get lucid. My problem is that I have a hard time sleeping in
[deleted] ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 10:41:07 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Do you just wake up and then do "instantly" FILD or do you do WBTB were you get awake first and maybe go toilet and ... ?
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 16:38:30 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
"Instantly" do FILD. Sorry that it wasn't clear.

Do you actually move your fingers? How does that not just wake you up?
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 16:37:39 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
You move them just slightly. Like if you want to gently press a piano, or even a keyboard key. This lets your mind stay... half awake? I'm not sure how to describe it.
Justin3613 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 18:19:27 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Okay, so I have a question. I've had times where I actually tried the FILD technique. I sometimes randomly woke up in the middle of the night for some weird reason and tried tapping my fingers lightly. After a while, it always feels like my body begins to stiffen up. I always stop after a while because of my fear of sleep paralysis. Is this normal, and if so, is there a way to not be scared in those situations?
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 20:40:40 on January 7, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
As I said, you need to be calm.
The FILD technique is actually said to be the one with the less chance of SP.
I personally haven't ever experienced it with FILD so it's safe to assume that it's improbable.
Don't be afraid of it.
Justin3613 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 05:03:14 on January 9, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Okay, thank you! I actually tried to do it last night! The thing is, it felt like it actually was working for a second. I don't know how to explain it, but after a while, it was as if all background noise ceased from existence, but I was still alert at the same time. The only thing I could feel was my bed and my fingers still "playing the piano". Sucks that i left my phone on vibrate because my friends started messaging in the middle of the night...-.-
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 14:51:36 on January 9, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Yeah, it sucks. I've had my friend calling me stop an LD.
Anyway, I'm glad my little tutorial is doing something. Keep me updated if you manage to LD!
wow-such-good ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 20:54:43 on January 9, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
Question: Is lucid dreaming time the same as real life time? So if a LD started at 6 am, and there was an alarm at 7, would the LD last an hour or can you extend or shorten the LD time?
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 21:44:37 on January 9, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
I wouldn't know. In dream time they usually last ~30-90 minutes if I gain lucidity and keep calm, most of them are around 3 minutes because I lose control though.
Otherwise, I can't tell you how much time they last in real time, simply put, because I'm asleep.
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 21:44:55 on January 9, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
You should try making a thread, asking that question.

No
GoldenPrinny ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 18:41:28 on January 6, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
That's when I have to get up, and coincidentally the time where I can sleep in minutes, not hours.
๐๏ธ P3P3_fdobai ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 19:38:44 on January 6, 2017 ยท (Permalink)
You can adjust your schedule, I was giving examples.
