Apparently that sitting posture is very common in Asia. In western countries we mostly sit down, resting our body on our toes. While in Asia you have your feet flat resting with a straighter posture. It really comfortable when you get used to it.

I got to try one of these at a friend's house and my god. I was amazed. Your legs don't get sore from sitting that way, issues from a sore back are quickly resolved from being straight and resting, and even though you'd think you need a backrest, you don't. There is absolutely no temptation to lean forward or backward. Sitting straight up, you are still rested.
