Like nosleep but with a specific theme (imagine a world where weird shit is real, and a morally dubious clandestine organization called the Foundation exists to secure and contain the 'anomalies' to protect regular folks and their sense of normalcy).
There's not really a fixed canon outside of that (and even the moral dubiousness depends a lot on the writer).
The bulk of the site consists of in-universe technical documents detailing the anomalies ('Special Containment Procedures', or 'SCPs') and how they are contained (easily contained, mostly contained but with oddities, or barely containable - if at all). These can be anything from a toothbrush whose bristles 'expunge nonliving matter from existence', to a statue that only moves when you arent looking at it, to even weirder shit.
There's also in-universe short fiction, as well.
Worth checking out if you like your creepy clinical, with a touch of [DATA EXPUNGED].

Yeah, there's a hell of a backlog. It's a good time if you've got the time, though. There's even been a few fan-made video games (Containment Breach is the only one I can remember off the top of my head).
seconding /u/zweebna. It's good for quick dives, and the canons arent required to understand the experience.
it's not until the 3000s+ that things start getting more meta and/or conceptually challenging (pataphyiscs, anyone?). Still good and creepy (I quite like the meta-horror and interface screw of later series), but you have to look up more words. /r/ScpDeclassified does wonderful work towards making things accessible while maintaining the creepy.
I don't think you really need to get into the whole universe. I just occasionally peruse the sub, /u/rumhand's explanation is enough to understand pretty much any of the stories. They're fun to read when youre bored, and generally quite concise due to the technical style

There's also a few video games based on it where you'll wander around inside a laboratory filled with all kinds of creatures and objects from the SCP lore. There's all kinds of ways to easily die because you touched something you shouldn't have and summoned some demons or something crazy like that, it's pretty fun.
I'd recommend checking out the SCP foundations website. The top left area has a list of series which contain all the objects and creatures they've dreamed up where you can read all about them if you're interested.

This is incredible to hear. I’m pursuing a career in voice acting, and I can safely say that Jim Cummings is on a level I can only pray I’ll someday achieve. To be the literal voice and soul for characters like this and be able to do so much good with it, to me that’s nothing short of amazing.
my older brothers friend that used to live a street from me over died of cancer in the early 2000s and i heard tim allen called him with his buzz lightyear voice :)
Many entertainers do this sort of thing, so I imagine a lot of them have similar stories about being a rare bright spot for a child and possibly the last one.
I don’t think it takes anything away from Jim Cummings and what he does to say that many voice actors and other performers call up sick or terminally ill children and talk to them in character. There are a lot of people in the entertainment industry who understand what their work means to their audiences and how they can use that to help in the world.
Worked with Jim Cummings on a video game a few years back, one of the nicest, most professional people I've ever met. He did six different character voices for us and if you weren't looking directly at him as he did them, you'd have sworn there were six people in that room with him.

This is incredible to hear. I’m pursuing a career in voice acting, and I can safely say that Jim Cummings is on a level I can only pray I’ll someday achieve. To be the literal voice and soul for characters like this and be able to do so much good with it, to me that’s nothing short of amazing.

Many entertainers do this sort of thing, so I imagine a lot of them have similar stories about being a rare bright spot for a child and possibly the last one.
I don’t think it takes anything away from Jim Cummings and what he does to say that many voice actors and other performers call up sick or terminally ill children and talk to them in character. There are a lot of people in the entertainment industry who understand what their work means to their audiences and how they can use that to help in the world.

Worked with Jim Cummings on a video game a few years back, one of the nicest, most professional people I've ever met. He did six different character voices for us and if you weren't looking directly at him as he did them, you'd have sworn there were six people in that room with him.
