The Olympics don't cover distance swimming. OP was misquoting a recent TIL post about how long distance swimming is the one sport in which women actually are on equal if not better footing than men. We're talking things like swimming the English channel, not the relatively short distance events you see at the Olympics.
I've heard the same for extreme long distance running as well (forget where I read it). Long distance swimming makes sense to me since a higher body fat percentage would make you more buoyant. I guess extreme long distance is much more about just training yourself to keep going than it is about raw power, which is why the gap between male and female ability shrinks.

Iirc the story was saying "on average" women are faster than men in these events, not that the best times belonged to women. Not that that proves anything - maybe women are less likely to enter if they don't know they will do well, while more men just give it a go anyway.
Both sexs do have it but men have significantly higher levels considering its the sexs hormone. It doesnt have much to do with leadership though. You could argue it makes someone more assertive, dominant or agressive which are leadership like qualities but its not neccisary.

There are open water competitions that run up to 20+ miles. . . You're not gonna see a female at the top of those results. I know my aquatics, yall can't fool me lol
that's pretty easy. pick a sport, search for the high school men's world record and the international women's record, and compare. you will find the men out preform the women consistently.
a single... sport? you can do this with like every sport. almost all the US high school men's track records are faster than the world women's track records. imagine lebron james fresh out of high school playing vs the wnba. swimming, etc etc.

Yeah, she has a long arm and the text box makes it appear even longer. Compare the water spray pattern next to her hand in both pictures, they are identical.
But that would only show that the maker of the poster didn't alter this image. Doesn't prove that this image wasn't altered initially, which to me it looks like it had to have been.
Could be a really long armed dwarf or a tall women with a small torso. It shows that the image wasn't altered by the person doing the ad that's all. Anything else is speculation as the lense, perspective, body proportion or a combination of all three could be causing the apparent long arm effect.
Now I really can't tell if it's real or fake. The elbow's in the right place at least - I just reached up like that, and my elbow was just above the top of my head, but... her arm still looks ridiculously long.
I think the text box covering her elbow is acting as an optical illusion making her arm appear to be too long where as the stock photo shows that she is a lizard human. I am surprised that the picture didn't catch her reptilian eyes. You can see that the meatbag she is wearing has stretched too far allowing the hand and wrist portion extended to a supernatural length.
I think that this ad is an attempt by the reptilian wearing a womens visage model to communicate with other repz as it is probably in distress or close to being exposed. I expect that the repz will be monitoring this thread hence the reason I am currently behind nine firewalls and proxies. They will be searching for new meatbags to wear this time of year and anyone who can see the truth is likely a high priority target.
I'm not quite sure what I've been reading but are you sure she is a lizard? As far as I know, lizards seem to have much shorter arms than we do.
My theory is that the ad is catering to a certain well-known horror creature from the internet. Maybe he has been busy procreating with his extra-long slenderpenis and now needs to know where to send his child for swimming lessons.
Yeah, it's more the length of the arm I was wondering about, than the kink - I think even my elbows bend very slightly inwards. I think it could just be the angle of the shot that makes her arm appear a lot longer than usual...
I just reached up like that and near as I can figure, my elbow is about where it would be in this picture. I do, however, have freakishly long arms for my height (6'2 wingspan, I'm 5'10).
But then on the other side, having that sort of difference in wingspan and height is part of what makes good swimmers good.
If she's turning it like she would for backstroke it's possible. Freakish flexibility, but possible. The elbow would be pointing more back than in though.

Some swimmers, especially good ones are able to hyper extend their elbow and often have longer limbs proportional to their height.
It's just that the arm looks extremely long, though it may have to do with the fact that it isn't proportional to anything because we can't see a body.

I buy most of my winter clothes through Eddie Bauer, Duluth Trading, and Land's End-- brands like that. They tend to be cheaper, better made, and come in tall sizes. A lot of my dressier stuff comes from there also. I tend to dress like a lumberjack/laborer in general, so when I dress up it's still largely that sort of clothing.

Yes! When I was in elementary school and raised my hand to answer a question, the kids made fun of my gross arms so much that I stopped raising my hand in class. Haha.
The red line labelled 'equal length' explains that the top and bottom half of the line are the same length. The general rule about the proportion for the arm goes like this: the distance from the top of the shoulder to the elbow is equal to the distance from the elbow to the first set of knuckles. However that mainly applies to resting position (down), so when the arm is raised you need to measure from the bottom of the humerus instead.
I don't see anything wrong in this photo, except the perspective.
My guess would be the hyperextended look of her arm, even though it is obviously within her normal range of motion it still has an unnatural look to it.
How is this crappy design? Her right shoulder is elevated hence the height of her arm. Her elbow is hyper-extended (a common trait in people with hyper-mobility like swimmers, I can hyper-extend my elbow as well.)

Nope, it's pretty clear what the designer did here. The actual location of the hand was behind the big "swim membership" graphic. The designer probably though it didn't look complete without the hand, so it was simply photoshopped above the graphic. It was also enlarged when inserted above the graphic, which is why her fist appears to be 2/3 the size of her entire head.

It looks like the bicep is about right, but it looks like they may have stretched her forearm in photoshop so that her hand wouldn't be cut off by the logo. Also, it kind of looks like the elbow is bending the wrong way.

Yeah, same. Although I lifted my arm up as in the picture, and my elbow was in the same place (i.e. just above my head). It's definitely the forearm that is too long.

No. The lower arm seems longer because you actually see all the muscles around the armpit/shoulder and it looks like that's part of her arm but it's not.
The actual part where the arm would "bend" at the torso is parallel to her lower lip

Could be a really long armed dwarf or a tall women with a small torso. It shows that the image wasn't altered by the person doing the ad that's all. Anything else is speculation as the lense, perspective, body proportion or a combination of all three could be causing the apparent long arm effect.

I think the text box covering her elbow is acting as an optical illusion making her arm appear to be too long where as the stock photo shows that she is a lizard human. I am surprised that the picture didn't catch her reptilian eyes. You can see that the meatbag she is wearing has stretched too far allowing the hand and wrist portion extended to a supernatural length.
I think that this ad is an attempt by the reptilian wearing a womens visage model to communicate with other repz as it is probably in distress or close to being exposed. I expect that the repz will be monitoring this thread hence the reason I am currently behind nine firewalls and proxies. They will be searching for new meatbags to wear this time of year and anyone who can see the truth is likely a high priority target.

I just reached up like that and near as I can figure, my elbow is about where it would be in this picture. I do, however, have freakishly long arms for my height (6'2 wingspan, I'm 5'10).
But then on the other side, having that sort of difference in wingspan and height is part of what makes good swimmers good.

I buy most of my winter clothes through Eddie Bauer, Duluth Trading, and Land's End-- brands like that. They tend to be cheaper, better made, and come in tall sizes. A lot of my dressier stuff comes from there also. I tend to dress like a lumberjack/laborer in general, so when I dress up it's still largely that sort of clothing.
If it's really nice stuff (for weddings, funerals and the ilk), I actually go to my tailor. Granted, I shouldn't say "my tailor" but he's the one guy that I've always went to for real dress clothing. All my dress slacks, shirts, suits, and blazers I get from him.

The red line labelled 'equal length' explains that the top and bottom half of the line are the same length. The general rule about the proportion for the arm goes like this: the distance from the top of the shoulder to the elbow is equal to the distance from the elbow to the first set of knuckles. However that mainly applies to resting position (down), so when the arm is raised you need to measure from the bottom of the humerus instead.
I don't see anything wrong in this photo, except the perspective.

How is this crappy design? Her right shoulder is elevated hence the height of her arm. Her elbow is hyper-extended (a common trait in people with hyper-mobility like swimmers, I can hyper-extend my elbow as well.)

And if you look around the edges of the picture it seems to be one contiguous whole.

Nope, it's pretty clear what the designer did here. The actual location of the hand was behind the big "swim membership" graphic. The designer probably though it didn't look complete without the hand, so it was simply photoshopped above the graphic. It was also enlarged when inserted above the graphic, which is why her fist appears to be 2/3 the size of her entire head.

It looks like the bicep is about right, but it looks like they may have stretched her forearm in photoshop so that her hand wouldn't be cut off by the logo. Also, it kind of looks like the elbow is bending the wrong way.
