Walk Like A King

Sup Kings,

Something I've noticed recently, around my campus and my own town, is a bunch of men walking like beta cucks. Eyes to the ground, hunched shoulders, hands in their pockets. This shit is a pandemic, and it has to stop. I can't find anything online about this so here you go.

If you are gonna be a King, you gotta walk like a King. Firstly, pick your head off the ground. Stare straight ahead wherever you're going. Don't be afraid to look people (especially women (especially cute women)) in the eyes when you pass, just a quick glance and a smile. Hold your head high like you weren't just fucked in the ass by your wife's bull.

Keep your hands out of your pockets. Unless it's freezing (and even then I recommend putting gloves on instead of pockets) I want your hands out. Swinging, they should go straight behind you about half a foot, and cross in front of your abdomen in the front by about the same length, making an obtuse angle at your elbow. Try to swing them with the weight in your arms, don't force them with your muscles or else you risk looking like you're speedwalking/have to take a shit.

Next, your shoulders. This might be the hardest step because posture in everyone is so bad nowadays. Basically, pull your shoulders back just a bit, imagine there's strings tied to them and a puppet master is slightly pulling on them. Stand against a wall and bring your shoulders back till you feel your shoulder blades touch the wall. That's where your shoulders should be when you walk.

Finally, puff your chest out. This should come fairly naturally if you've done the other three things, but nonetheless make sure your chest is out. Stick it out forecefully at all times if you have to, your spine might have compressed a little because of your bad form and you need to bring it out.

I've found walking like this has not only helped my posture overall, it makes you look bigger than you are and gives you confidence. It's also a good way of keeping you focused while you're walking, and thus a little more alert. It can also help you to be slightly more intimidating. Remember, you're a King. Walk like one!

Very based advice.

Every single one of you should apply this to your walk until becomes natural. You will notice a difference in not only your posture, but how you interact with the world and people around you.

Keep at it Kings. Weโ€™re all gonna make it.

While standing take a big deep chest breath , this will correct your sternum to completely upright, if your sterm/chest/ribcage is upright your shoulder girdle will follow Try to tuck your shoulder blades into your back pockets, try to keep them against your body tight and not winging

hats are good at correcting posture, pull that bill down until you only have the bottom half of your vision, then raise your head until your vision is no longer obstructed.

also, something that OP left off is that bad posture restricts your breathing, that extra bit of air will do more for you than daydreaming about being bigger than you are.

Hey man, I've seen plenty of huge guys who act/feel they're weak and small, and I've seen skinny guys who, just by the way they walk and their confidence, seem like they could take on anyone.

It's as much of a mental game as it is a physical one. I'd argue feeling more powerful will have a greater affect on someone than the health benefits they gain by doing so (although those are definitely a plus).

Losers walk like losers because it feels right; because they are.

There's no chicken-egg thing here though, if you start doing better in one area you'll bring up the rest of you to match. Works with wearing suits, for instance.

Always walk like a man on a mission. Always BE a man on a mission. When you have your head down, maybe listening to your headphones, you are not really living in the moment. You think you are, but you're not. You're living in a replaceable, manufactured moment. But that walk you're doing will never happen again.

You will also just feel better, better posture helps you breathe better, gives you less muscle soreness, makes you more attractive, it's one of the easiest and most important things to change.

Relwof_ ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 05:04:51 on February 16, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

I've found that making sure my palms are straight, facing my body really helps. If you're walking with bad posture your palms will face backwards.

No headphones in public is the way to go. Itโ€™s way to easy to isolate yourself even outside amongst other people.

It's natural for all humans to do it, we didn't have pockets 2,000 years ago after all. Once you do it a few times, and regularly, you won't wanna go back.

Here's another way to help with this advice. OP please add: When you are walking or learning to walk like how OP recommend, you should often look at mirrors or any reflective surfaces while you are treading the street. Stop, take a look at the mirror, watch your stance, posture, if anything's wrong, fix it then move on walking

proper posture makes sense to me, but why hands swinging? if I'm wearing just a shirt of course I'm not walking with my hands in my pants pockets, but when I'm wearing a jacket if I swing my arms they keep hitting the jacket, or I could hold my arms further out to the side of me and look like a dweeb. I like having my hands in my jacket pockets when I walk.

also, if I were CCing it's perfect to have a little jacket pocket snubby. I don't, but it seems like the perfect place.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ youaintlaboeuf ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 06:24:16 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

Arms at your side give you better presence and stature, it's how our ancestors used to walk after all, they didn't have pockets. Hands in your pockets also force your shoulders to come forward.

I suppose jacket pockets aren't as bad, still not great for presence, but those could get a pass. If your hands are hitting your jacket, like more than a little friction, you can try widening your arms a little bit, test in a mirror if you're not sure how it looks, or get a jacket that's not as baggy.

If you mean sweatshirt I highly recommend you stop wearing those for casual wear, only to the gym or running. They make people look like slobs (no offense to sweatshirt wearers, they're just too casual, they're the shirt equivalent of sweatpants).

meabster ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 13:42:27 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

I agree that sweatshirts and hoodies make people look like slobs, but for zoomers in high school or college, you can make them look fairly nice and presentable. If the hoodie is clean (literally clean, nice color, nice cut/size/shape for you) and you're clean (clean cut, clean shaven, good posture) and the rest of your outfit is clean (nice jeans, complimenting undershirt, etc.) then it looks pretty good in the colder months. And if it's colder than just t-shirt and hoodie season, putting a complimenting jacket over the hoodie and then pulling the hood so it's on the outside looks good and keeps you warm.

ifuckredditsnitches_ ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 07:54:17 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

Tips on what to wear that doesn't either make you stand out or look like a slob?

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ youaintlaboeuf ยท 3 points ยท Posted at 08:05:51 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

Straight fit jeans with a belt, white undershirt tucked in, darker colored (dark red/blue/green) button-up is my usual wear. Looks nice, women like it, never too formal or too relaxed. If it's cold I throw over a zip-up jacket with a hood, or just put on a heavier button-up.

If you're out and about in the real world, you should NEVER wear: sweatshirts/pants, super baggy pants, bright colors, odd colors (yellow, orange, purple, pink, etc.), beanies, vests, backwards caps, or baggy t-shirts.

All of these contribute to either making you look like a slob, like you don't care, or will make you stand out.

ifuckredditsnitches_ ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 08:10:03 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

Definitely more formal than average for my school but probably could pull it off. Don't wear button ups much I'm definitely guilty of the hoodie/jogger slobbery

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ youaintlaboeuf ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 08:17:07 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

Are you in highschool by chance? If you are, you're probably right about the button-up being a little too formal (although I'd still recommend wearing it once in a while).

Instead what you can do is get a heavy long sleeve shirt (Carhartt has some great ones), one that can cover your wrists, and then throw a blank t-shirt on top of that like this

It's less formal but doesn't make you look like a slob. Also a bit more comfortable than a button up. Keep the straight fit jeans and belt and it should look good.

ifuckredditsnitches_ ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 08:29:19 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

College, I'd rather do a button up than that tbh not a fan of that look. It's just a struggle finding button ups that don't look super formal

Stars_Stripes_1776 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 06:50:29 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

I don't think I wear sweatshirts/hoodies often at all. Only on days when I barely got out of bed, didn't shave, and feel like a slob anyway, or if it's cold and I'm going to the gym or something like that. usually I just wear an unzipped jacket and hands in jacket pockets seems natural

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ youaintlaboeuf ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 06:54:27 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

Yeah that's basically my position on sweatshirts too lol. Unzipped jacket with hands in pockets can work well if you're already huge and already walk as described in the post.

I more just made it for guys who have the beta walk and want to get out of that habit, in which case I'd recommend they keep their hands out of all pockets and get into the habit of the King walk first.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ youaintlaboeuf ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 07:13:20 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

Not at all lol. But if you are short, 100% keep your hands out of all of your pockets, I don't care what you have to do. You need to use your entire body to puff yourself up, that means swinging your arms. Start zipping your jacket up to just below your chest, that'll make it pop a bit more. Also hold your chin up at all times!

You could also probably get away with more space between your torso and arms without it looking weird, to help with the rubbing problem if that still persists.

Stars_Stripes_1776 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 18:41:57 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

But if you are short, 100% keep your hands out of all of your pockets

what's the reasoning behind this, though?

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ youaintlaboeuf ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 19:15:26 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

Well like I said it'll make you look a little bigger because your arms at your sides make you appear wider (in a good way lol). If they're in jacket pockets they're held close to your body.

Stars_Stripes_1776 ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 19:19:46 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

Any tips for general posture? I spend a good amount of my day sitting at tables and desks.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ youaintlaboeuf ยท 2 points ยท Posted at 06:42:46 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

This will be very difficult because, if you are like me, posture was taught to you in first grade and never again, so your spine has been slowly getting used to curving when you sit down. This has weakened your lower back, and so you will feel a lot of pain and discomfort while you follow these tips to try and correct it, so keep that in mind if it starts hurting later.

Basically what you want to do is keep your head and chest perpendicular to your hips, ears just above the shoulders, back flat against the back of the chair.

Keep your feet planted flat on the ground also, with your knees at or near a right angle. Your shoulders should also be pulled back like I said in the post.

When writing/typing, your arms should bend at the elbows at an approximate 90ยฐ angle.

This will take getting used to, probably about a month's worth of use until your back strengthens enough and your body gets into the habit of sitting like this. Until then just keep reminding yourself, sit straight and stay strong!

AnonTriscuit ยท 1 points ยท Posted at 12:42:07 on January 27, 2020 ยท (Permalink)

To add to this, keep the width of your gate to about a foot apart. It becomes very obvious if you're walking on tile. It will naturally cause your shoulders to swing and your heel hit first. Gives a very confident looking "strut" if you have your shoulders up.

I am reminded of the descriptions of a Bodhisattva. In Buddhism, a Bodhisattva is someone who has attained enlightenment, but chooses to not go to nirvana, and instead stays here to help out (as I understand it).

A Bodhisattva is treats the world as if they are the host, and the everyone is their guest. When you host someone at your house, you don't beg and grovel, you offer kindness and help. You don't bow your back, you open your arms. A hosts never makes their guests feel guilty or like a burden.
