I did something similar with the Little Einsteins and my music teacher. I was so confident going in and crushed after it wasnโt the answer to her mostly rhetorical question. IIRC, the question was forte and piano, but I answered fortissimo and pianissimo cause thatโs what they said in the show. She just said I was wrong.

I had almost exactly the same experience but, being like 8, I did kinda do it in a yamsmart way because kids are like that. The teacher said something about not subtracting bigger numbers from smaller numbers and I said "what about negatives?" and was told "yeah, we'll deal with that later in school" All thanks to that one episode of cyberchase.
I mean negative numbers aren't part of the "natural numbers" but they are integers.

I remember there was an episode where literally the plot was two people were fighting because they were an inch off measuring something and couldnโt figure out why, and it turned out it was because one of them started from 0 and one started from the unmarked wood edge of the ruler they were using, so they made up and went home.
Weird episode, but then I never made that mistake again at school, so

Dragon Tales was my fuckin JAM dude holy shit I havenโt thought about this show in ages.
But oh man, itโs flooding back. My favorite character(s) was always the twins because one was super bubbly and outgoing and the other was meek and grouchy and they fought all the time, but theyโre two heads on the same body so they kind of have to deal. I always thought they were funny and I liked their designs a lot. Plus I liked that they were weird, being the only main character dragon that has two headsโwhich inexplicably didnโt matter to anyone or come up very often iirc.
What was it called, the โRainbow Scaleโ? Iโm desperately trying to remember the mantra that the kids chant to get to Dragon World.
I had been watching cyberchase growing up and never noticed until a few days ago when my niece was watching it on TV. That show taught me so much yet I am still not a smart man

I always held a grudge against it because my teacher pitched it as โlike Magic School Bus but with mathโ and it could never hold a candle to my beloved Magic School Bus.
That was honestly one of the shows I super looked forward to as a kid. When ever the show ended I felt like I actually gained something and felt good for a while after.
I lived in this zip code for six months and it was the most amazing feeling every time I bought packages online and plugged the zip in!! Oh two one three four!!
Lol I idolized those kids back in the day. I sent in a couple ideas to the show and was never featured, but they did send me a kickass booklet full of extra show content (tricks, games, riddles, etc.)

I live near where they filmed zoom, and one time I saw one of the cast members in a Kellyโs Roast Beef. I asked for her autograph. Looking back on it, that must have been really bizarre for her.
So that show put 3 year old me into an existential crisis. The studio naturally used special effects and lighting to make them look like they are where they are, but little me thought these kids were playing in this huge black void. Where were they? How did they leave? Didn't their mommies and daddies miss them?
but you also got to think about the amount of trash that they show on there. like for every 4 shows thereโs like one youโll want to watch. you remember that jane and the dragon shit? boring asf and repeated on qubo like 20 times a day
I bullshitted one or two book reports last second based on my recollection of wishbone episodes! Ended up saving me from having to read books like some kinda dweeb
I would come home after school and BINGE Fetch. I loved it to bits, and when I found out about their online games... it was amazing. Immediately I started playing them. The website is actually still up! If you look up โFetch with Ruff Ruffmanโ you could find it in the first few results.
I think my favorite games were the disco one, the spy one, and Smoothie Operator. Fetch games never got old.
I remember actually learning shit from that show and being ahead in school like 5 years later because of it and it was great. Super quality educational programming.

I remembered that show like 2 years ago and spent a day or two straight just rewatching all of the episodes. There was not a single one I did not love.
Does anybody remember the promos they did for one season that was like a parody of September by Earth, Wind, and Fire? I think It went like " ba di ah Fetch is in september" or something like that. I don't know why but that's the pretty much the only thing I remember about Fetch.
Oh god please someone tell me they let him down from that cliff. This man fell on a bed he just spelled then bounced back up on the cliff like ohmygod that was the closest my 6yo self ever got to blue balls
I actually felt bad for him. The dude would sometimes get so close to escaping safely but have his chances screwed over for some stupid, ridiculous reason.
Between the lions aired everyday with a new episode and I think(correct me if Iโm wrong)cliff hanger was a once a week skit that aired on Wednesday and that was like the only time I watched Between the lions. When I did watch cable I watched Sesame Street and I only cared about Elmoโs segment at the end too
I love jokes like that where because itโs a kids show you can have it be right on the nose. Itโs like a base level writing joke but thatโs why itโs so funny.

Between the Lions! That show was the best!! In fact, tied with Arthur and Zoboomafoo, it's the TV show I watched the most. In fact, it actually inspired me to be a writer!
Was that the one with the triangles? I know I watched this as a kid, but I legitimately only remember two episodes. One was about triangles and the kids playing with sticks to decide how not to make a triangle, and the other was about the number zero getting offended and quitting his job.
Thatโs all I remember...
Took me quite a few episodes to get it down to be honest, itโs very rushed, and you only ever got to hear it once a day/week depending on rotation back in the early 00s.
I used to watch the first minute of the show just to make sure Jim was on that day. I wouldnโt actually watch the news I just wanted to make sure he got to work.

Funny, we had 3 (or four depending on which hill was blocking you) PBS stations over here. When kids shows stopped playing on channel 28, I always flipped to the alternate (although weaker signal) station on 56.
What's with PBS having all these shows that had episodes like once a year? I swear Sagwa only came on extremely rarely which made it a huge treat when it was on

It was released later than a lot of the others, and by then I was old enough to be critical. Her voice is not nice, I didn't care for the characters aside from the monkey, and the lessons seemed kind of forced.
Yeah my sister is 4 years younger and she watched a ton of that. Also wordworld, sid the science kid, kratt brothers (they were alright), and motherfucking Super Why. I think the first person I truly hated was that smug superhero kid.
I sing this to myself all the damn time and completely forgot where it came from! I thought it was some stupid thing I made up and was always aware not to say it around other people.. ha.
Yes! First episode I ever saw was about them learning about fung schwae (I don't remember how it's spelled). My ultra Christian mother was so pissed when she found that out and threatened to beat me and my sister for watching it. It temporarily became my favorite show for a while, of course.

The hashtag is tweet like itโs the 2000โs. Iโm 21 and ruff man was kind of the last PBS show I watched, it felt like it was for slightly older kids. I remember when it came out actually!
yeah in 2002 I was 11 and had more important things to do than watch PBS! I remember Blues Clues, that one with the bears, sesame street, reading rainbow, lamb chop, the one with the trains that had creepy faces, arthur...all that OG 90's stuff that seems incredibly out of date now
I'm guessing it's not that they had cable and more that they're in their late 20s or early 30s. I've never heard of the bottom two either, both came out after the year 2000

Fetch with Ruff Ruffman was essentially a kids scavenger hunt/ game show each episode was hosted by a animated dog that interacted real kids, Cyberchase was a cartoon show that dealt with math in a computer world. Whenever I babysit my niece I turn this on and they love it.
Caillou was a bratty ass kid. Never wanted to play with his sister, whenever he lost, he would throw a tantrum. But Iโve concluded he was low key a cancer patient and thatโs why his parents gave him everything he wanted.
These shows were good, but nobody remembers Word Girl.
That show had Jerry from Rick and Morty as the narrator, villains with stupid powers like a scientist who accidentally fused his brain with an evil mouse brain, Chuck the Evil Sandwich Making Guy always used sandwich-related weapons and lived in his mom's basement, a dumb but super rich dude, a Butcher who attacked with meats, even a Guy with a big left hand made it as a villain with his superior taxi-hailing skills for getaways.
Not to mention as weird ass family dynamic in Word Girl's day-to-day life

We had a huge ass antenna that Iโd literally have to rotate outside by hand to find channels.
Once the cartoons would go off, I would flip between ABC and NBC, run outside and rotate the antenna, then look inside the back window as the TV static would clear - all just to find shows I could tolerate,
Usually wound up being Oprah, Dharma and Greg, or My Wife and Kids.
When i was 7 or 8 i reallllly wanted to be on fetch. I was doing a ton of research on how to get on the show but apparently you have to live in Massachusetts to be on and my parents didnt want to move there :(
It was all about the Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, Sesame Street and I forget the names of the others but one had a guy that was all inside out, and one had a segment called Math Man.
I literally grew up on this because my parents refused to let me watch anything other than PBS Kids GO! I honestly don't regret their decision these shows were great
In Canada we had a lot of live action shows with puppets and not a whole lot of cartoons aside from inspector gadget and other dated cartoons. Lamb Chop, friendly giant, Mr. Dressup, Fred Penner, Umbrella Tree, Mr. Rogers, Thomas the Tank Engine, etc.
I think we had Arthur and Clifford too. But our favorite TV time was after supper when the Simpsons, Family Matters and Fresh Prince came on.

I never really thought about it but PBS had some really quality programming on back in the day. You could enjoy it at pretty much any age and it was always wholesome. I appreciate that a lot more now that I've gotten older.

The thread is dead, but this situation is neither funny or weird. People love to feel nostalgic, so I took advantage of that. I posted it deliberately, because I knew people would love the post and watch the video.
When I was in elementary school, I had half days. So, after school I'd go to my grandma's credit union and hang out there. There was a TV in the meeting room, so I just shut the door and happily watched my shows!
Bruhhhh oh my God this was me in middle school. It was always PBS kids after school and Saturday mornings had WB Kids which was the shit. My family are immigrants and we didnt have cable back then so all i had to work with was 21 channels. Never got Nick or Disney or CN like all the other kids :(
Man I never guessed so many of us grew up watching and loving the same shows. I always thought that since I grew up without cable I'd be one of very very few people who knew these shows. None of my friends had seen them. But here we are. Strangers from around the country and maybe around the world, United by the shows we enjoyed as a kids. By the shows that helped form our childhood. No one mentioning Curious George? That was my favorite show. It taught multiple things, from science, math, art, infrastructure, to relationships and love. Curious George taught all of those things in such an entertaining way. I love how the setting constantly changed, to living near a farm to being a city kid to try to relate to all kids. The relationship between George and the man in the yellow hat was also sweet. It showed the point of view of kids and grownups. I love that show. There was some real work and soul into it.

The best part of PBS was when they would change their schedule in the summer and they would show Redwall. Shit was Game of Thrones for kids where all the characters were woodland creatures. Pretty sure there was an episode where someone got shot with a giant ass crossbow and you saw it happen. Brutal.

The only other thing we had was kidswb when they aired on weekdays. And Saturday was usually how i saw kidswb and that other channel i think cw where they had kibry and sonic x. Its too bad i missed shows dragonball z and jimmy neutron they werenโt reruned when i got cable in 5th grade around 2006
Didnโt even have tv after age 7, I had to read so much, it sucked, I read like at least a book a month, and when I got a computer I just watched all of the stuff I missed.
True quality. A study recently showed Sesame Street can be as valuable to a childโs education as Pre-K. And it warms the heart to know that PBS is programming designed for low income, overlooked kids, and doesnโt try to sell kids on junk food or toys.
I didnโt like the green villain, and the spookiest episode for me was when they were trying to stop. The infection and one by one they would become those green people

I did something similar with the Little Einsteins and my music teacher. I was so confident going in and crushed after it wasnโt the answer to her mostly rhetorical question. IIRC, the question was forte and piano, but I answered fortissimo and pianissimo cause thatโs what they said in the show. She just said I was wrong.

I had almost exactly the same experience but, being like 8, I did kinda do it in a yamsmart way because kids are like that. The teacher said something about not subtracting bigger numbers from smaller numbers and I said "what about negatives?" and was told "yeah, we'll deal with that later in school" All thanks to that one episode of cyberchase.

I remember there was an episode where literally the plot was two people were fighting because they were an inch off measuring something and couldnโt figure out why, and it turned out it was because one of them started from 0 and one started from the unmarked wood edge of the ruler they were using, so they made up and went home.

Dragon Tales was my fuckin JAM dude holy shit I havenโt thought about this show in ages.
But oh man, itโs flooding back. My favorite character(s) was always the twins because one was super bubbly and outgoing and the other was meek and grouchy and they fought all the time, but theyโre two heads on the same body so they kind of have to deal. I always thought they were funny and I liked their designs a lot. Plus I liked that they were weird, being the only main character dragon that has two headsโwhich inexplicably didnโt matter to anyone or come up very often iirc.
What was it called, the โRainbow Scaleโ? Iโm desperately trying to remember the mantra that the kids chant to get to Dragon World.

Fetch with Ruff Ruffman was essentially a kids scavenger hunt/ game show each episode was hosted by a animated dog that interacted real kids, Cyberchase was a cartoon show that dealt with math in a computer world. Whenever I babysit my niece I turn this on and they love it.

These shows were good, but nobody remembers Word Girl.
That show had Jerry from Rick and Morty as the narrator, villains with stupid powers like a scientist who accidentally fused his brain with an evil mouse brain, Chuck the Evil Sandwich Making Guy always used sandwich-related weapons and lived in his mom's basement, a dumb but super rich dude, a Butcher who attacked with meats, even a Guy with a big left hand made it as a villain with his superior taxi-hailing skills for getaways.

We had a huge ass antenna that Iโd literally have to rotate outside by hand to find channels. Once the cartoons would go off, I would flip between ABC and NBC, run outside and rotate the antenna, then look inside the back window as the TV static would clear - all just to find shows I could tolerate, Usually wound up being Oprah, Dharma and Greg, or My Wife and Kids.

In Canada we had a lot of live action shows with puppets and not a whole lot of cartoons aside from inspector gadget and other dated cartoons. Lamb Chop, friendly giant, Mr. Dressup, Fred Penner, Umbrella Tree, Mr. Rogers, Thomas the Tank Engine, etc.
I think we had Arthur and Clifford too. But our favorite TV time was after supper when the Simpsons, Family Matters and Fresh Prince came on.

Man I never guessed so many of us grew up watching and loving the same shows. I always thought that since I grew up without cable I'd be one of very very few people who knew these shows. None of my friends had seen them. But here we are. Strangers from around the country and maybe around the world, United by the shows we enjoyed as a kids. By the shows that helped form our childhood. No one mentioning Curious George? That was my favorite show. It taught multiple things, from science, math, art, infrastructure, to relationships and love. Curious George taught all of those things in such an entertaining way. I love how the setting constantly changed, to living near a farm to being a city kid to try to relate to all kids. The relationship between George and the man in the yellow hat was also sweet. It showed the point of view of kids and grownups. I love that show. There was some real work and soul into it.

The best part of PBS was when they would change their schedule in the summer and they would show Redwall. Shit was Game of Thrones for kids where all the characters were woodland creatures.
