Is there anything more to this story? For the first time in this thread I am actually intrigued!

This is eerily reminiscent of Olaf Stapledon's A Man Divided.

The main character, Victor has a split personality. All the while growing up, he is almost always his false self. And during his life, he is constantly dreaming of this particular woman's face, over and over again.

He ends up meeting her in an informal way; he's just about to wed the next day and stops for coffee. She's his waitress. But as his false self, he belittles her, disrespects her. Then he wakes up - in the middle of his wedding ceremony. He goes back to the restaurant.

There, as his true self, he professes his unyielding need to be with her. She IS the woman for him. He pursues. All the while, he tells her, "I want to be with you, I'm supposed to be with you. It's just 'right' i know it. But it's okay, i CAN and WILL wait for you to come around."

So it doesn't happen over night. Naturally, she resists, but like all things, persistence and genuine love and respect win out. She loves him and they get married.

The point of the story? Well, it's really about True Victor vs. the False victor. He is in a constant battle with himself. His true self is sympathetic, creative and in tune with the world around him. Respectful, kind, and at peace - always. Alternate Victor? Shallow, crude, greedy, misguided, critical and insecure. His battle for himself is pulling him apart. What does he need to truly be himself? How can he win out against the false Victor?

Her. She will save him. Throughout his life, it's always been her. He must strive. True Victor may win or False may win. But he knows he won't have a chance without her.

Weird.

There are all sorts of phone glitches. Back when I had verizon phone service, there was about a month where the phone would ring, so I would pick up and then hear ringing on the other end, and then the other person would pick up and answer. So somehow we were connected when neither of us called the other. It also happened where I would get a ring, and pick up an somehow end up in a three way call with 2 people who i didn't know and were already talking. One time it was even a couple talking about their divorce, which was akward to be thrust into the middle of.

I was talking to my mom once on the phone and in mid sentence the call ended. 10 seconds later my phone rings and it's my mother. I answer and this weird static noise happens and I am listening to a conversation between two older men. I didn't listen for more than 5 seconds. I hung up and called her back and she said she never called me back.

I work for a telephone company and i assure you, that is a system glitch not the matrix's :P I know it was your voice but it probably was another conversation you had and forgot about OR more plausible answer, it wasn't you talking. How many times did you heard your voice on the phone? It's much different than we imagine.

Either there was a crossed line and your phone call failed to hang up properly and got connected to a different call where one of the callers sounds quite like you, or else you failed to hang up the phone properly and for some reason you don't remember having that conversation with that girl. It's entirely possible for someone to sound like you on the phone - phone connections don't give the best audio in the world, but the references to occupation and activities would be a big coincidence. On the other hand, people forget unremarkable conversations all the time. You had no reason to remember talking to that girl, who wasn't a close friend of yours, at the time. The conversation was only significant once you realised you'd recorded it. The girl could have been a random stranger or someone who works in a shop you were trying to make conversation with, but it didn't go anywhere and you forgot about it. Or something traumatic might have happened you're not aware of. Or you may have a memory problem (or even dissociative identity disorder).

You had the conversation but had a memory lapse or repressed it. Only explanation.

I can't help but imagine you as a small, throwaway character in some fantasy novel. The guy who checks to see if the main characters are okay, and then as he turns around they continue to be abducted or whatever it may be. I feel like I'm reading that sort of story from the perspective of a small character. It's cool.

This is the first one I read that legitimately creeped me the f**k out. I think something like this would scar me for life.

That reminded me of when you get to a part of a video game that glitches and the characters never begin their scripted actions. Its a little unsettling then, I cant imagine real life.

Where did the car go? Down a hidden driveway. Why hidden? Because it was a driveway leading to most likely a marijuana farm or a meth trailer. Why were the passengers passed out/weird? Drugs. Not necessarily marijuana/meth either. Why did your flashlight "wake up" the driver? Either the lights...or the way you acted (a lot like a cop, actually - very confident, etc.)

Source: I grew up in possibly the marijuana capital of the US...where if there are unmarked driveways in the hills...you don't drive up them, not just to be polite, but to avoid semi (or full) automatic fire. Hidden driveways I'd heard of but - obviously never seen. My brother is now a cop/SWAT in that area, and has some familiarity with the "surprise" car-paths.

TLDR: OP hit some druggies right before turning into the hidden driveway to their druggie lab/field probably.

Assuming the story is true and not a straight up hallucination, it sounds like the driver just took the car off road with the lights off. You say you were driving home (so presumably it was late) and it was a storm day (so it would have been cloudy) it should have been dark. Also, Mercedes is a luxury brand so it might be expected to have made significantly less noise than a cherry-picker truck, so you might not have heard it pull away.

This might not seem plausible (you claim you only took your eyes off for 15 seconds) but your memory of how long it took to make the phone call, walk around your truck and notice the cherry picker might be slightly corrupted. Memory is unreliable, and the sequence might be a bit confused in your mind.

For an explanation of what you saw in the car, maybe everyone was on drugs - hence the sleeping passengers (heroin or meth, maybe) and the strange behaviour of the driver (meth or acid or something). So perhaps these guys drove out to a golf course at night to take some hardcore drugs in private. The driver takes ones that don't send him to sleep as he is responsible for getting them home. They get disturbed, the driver freaks out and stays completely motionless. When the guy freaking him out leaves, he starts the car and gets the hell out of there, off road into the dark. Or alternatively, maybe the driver had some other reason to be going down that road with two sleeping passengers, and the falling tree freaked him out (either it's presence in the road or maybe it nearly fell on him) and that's why he acted so oddly with you. Or perhaps he freaked out because they were doing something illegal or shameful when you showed up (and two of them were sleeping it off).

However, having the hazard lights on, but leaving when disturbed by an EMT, suggests the driver wasn't averse to attention, but didn't want attention from an official. So that hints at them doing something mildly illegal, like drunk driving, and kind of rules out anything too scary (like the passengers were really dead). Unless the driver was a serial killer who just sits in remote places with his hazards on at night and kills whoever comes up to his car and then arranges them like passengers.

had a vaguely similar experience myself. I was heading up to minneapolis to visit a friend, and just past roschester i notice a car half-way in the median. I figured must f just been a car with a dead battery. nope. There were no skid marks behind the car and the lights were off with no smoke coming from the tail pipe but there were two black guys hunched over in their seats like they both passed out unconsciously at the same time. Also, it didnt seem like anyone else cared or noticed them there, i still wonder if i actually witnessed that or not.

I'm going to have a stab at explaining this.

The guys in the car were driving down the interstate when a wormhole (bear with me) intercepts their path and "transports" them to the side-road. The driver slams on the brakes and is literally scared stiff. The wormhole doesn't go far and then re-transports them back to the interstate, or somewhere else while you couldn't see them.

OK, wild I know, but there's plenty of science stuff we don't know about, and I don't think it sounds that unreasonable! :o)

Traffic was lag-spawning. You get that sometimes when you have two or more passengers are also spawning in the same car. When it is finally done spawning, it will teleport to a proper location randomly choosen by the computer.

I have a good storm one as well, nothing quite that creepy, just off and unsettling. I was driving between Nashville and Memphis on I-40, a helluva thunderstorm comes up and people are pulling off to the shoulder, exiting, etc, finally I drive out of the leading edge of the storm to sunshine and blue skies and then proceeded to drive along I-40, an extremely busy route between the two cities, without seeing another car going either way for about 30 minutes, that really freaked me out at the time.

That is what I call a time overlap or backshift. As quantum physiscists suggest, and correctly so, time is fluid and ebbs and flows at different speeds. There are many dimentional factors to why these disturbances occur. They happen alot more than you may think but the concious mind usually only records one event... We occasionally have lucid moments of awareness where we actually see these things as they occur. Like the OPs egg, it was the exact same egg as he had just peeled.. but because he was the observer of the egg he was peeling, he brought that egg with him, while the egg container backshifted to before he had taken that egg from the container.

Interestingly enough i have had this occur before. About 2 years ago i was at the range with my pistol. I loaded 16 rounds into the mag and fired 18 shots. 18holes in my target. However only 16 were removed from the box of ammo. A week later i went back to the range, unrapped another box and found two rounds missing from that box I JUST OPENED. i said to myself. This "time shift" glitch happened to me too. In seventh grade elementary school, the school had "guards" on the hallway who were seventh and eighth graders on duty sitting post and writing down who goes where during class. I enjoyed these days, since it meant I didn't have to participate in class.

So I'm sitting one day, and see a third or fourth grader kid coming from a classroom to my left, going to the bathroom to my right. I ask his name, and write down the time. After maybe 30 seconds, the very same kid goes to the very same bathroom. I literally couldn't bretathe for 10-20 seconds. I didn't ask his name, since I had already written his name down...

The kid only went back to the classroom once.

This is making me reconsider things...basically as a kid I woke up and saw my friend sitting at the foot of the bed. So I um, kicked him and he faded away

One time I crossed a bridge while I was on acid and crossed the same bridge three more times on my way home. There is only one bridge on the way home. I thought I was dead and in some sort of purgatory loop until I could work out all of my emotional baggage. After a while I saw the street lights ahead but I still can't explain the rest. I mean, acid is the obvious explanation but I wasn't and don't ever trip that hard.

This reminds me of something that happened to me about 15 years ago. I was living with two roommates, in our early 20's at the time. They were both on our front porch, having a couple beers, and I was inside on the computer. Our front door was open and I could see them in my peripheral vision. One of my roommates came inside, walked behind me, rounded the corner and I heard the bathroom door close and the fan come on, which it automatically did when the light was turned on. A few minutes later the fan went off, but I never heard the door open. I thought this was odd, so I went to check and the bathroom door was closed, and there was no light on. I opened the door, and turned on the light, but there was no one in there. I went out to the porch and both my roommates were still sitting there drinking beer. I asked my roommate if he had used the bathroom and they both swore he never left the porch.

A friend of mine would do this to a teacher. He would ask to go to the bathroom. Then procede to walk outside and climb back in the windows while the teacher wasn't looking. Then ask to go to the bathroom again.

Reading this gave me serious chills. I had the exact same experience when I was that age. My mom went into the grocery store and left me in the car. Minutes after she entered the store, I see this old man walking towards my car. I didn't see where he came from, but he just walked straight over to my car, and stared at me through the window, expressionless. He tapped on the window a few times and tried to open the door, but I shook my head no. He stopped immediately and just turned around and left the way he came. After he was several feet away, the car door opens and my mom gets in, I look back and the old guy is gone. There was nobody else in the parking lot at the time, and I never told my mom about this. Strange thing though, is that I swear I saw the same guy looking at me when I was on vacation in Arizona just a few years later, but that is a whole other weird glitch thing having to do with having a dream and then it coming true. Maybe I'll write that one up a bit later.

I have had almost the exact same experience. When I was younger, we had a gigantic Brittany Spaniel. Ruffy was a pretty wild dog and a horrible chewer, so he spent most of the warm months outside on a lead at the top of the yard (house on the side of the mountain). My brother and I were responsible for bringing him fresh food and water daily, and we often made the chore a race as brothers are aught to do. One particular day, I was taking his water up, which was always the slower job to do. As I was pouring it into the emptied bowl, I looked down the yard to see my brother bringing the food up the walk. I taunted him that I was going to beat him back down to the house, and continued to watch him walk up until he drifted a bit to the right after stepping off the end of the walk and disappeared behind the giant bush beside Ruffy's run. I stayed there petting the dog, tossing occasional glances to the left to see if he came around the hard way, but watching for him to come around into view to get some extra gloating in. After about ten minutes, I gave up, confused, and went back down to the house. My brother was in the kitchen talking with my mom, and both gave me confused looks when I asked how and why he had managed to get all the way back down to the house without me seeing him. He hadn't gone outside yet.

As you approach the figure it seems like your friends brother is standing at an odd angle, his left leg holding the majority of his weight and his right shoulder hunched up.

You call out his name, and he physically takes notice of you with a sudden small jump, you call his name again and he seems to tense up. You get even closer and ask, "Dude what's wro..." but you are cut off as your friends brother pokes his head out of the shed and asks "What do you want?"

As you look back to face him his face goes white and his eyes wide, he begins to scream "WHAT THE FU..."

On a semi-related note, after her C-section my wife was on ambien in the hospital. She wasn't entirely asleep and was talking to her mom about how much she hated the doctor that was in the room. She made her mom usher him out of the room.
Her mom was a good sport and pretended to make the doctor leave even though he wasn't there.

I had a similar experience with The Ring. After a night of drinking in college some friends and I went to a friends house and watched the ring on DVD.

A week later at the same time I stumble back into my dorm and my TV turns on, I didn't turn it on - it turned on by its motherfucking self. It takes a second for the TV to turn because it was an older tube TV. I was in the kitchen when I heard the music and the then the picture flashed on. It was the the very beginning of the death video, the still of the latter. A brick feel out of my pants as I ran to grab the remote to turn the TV off.

I grab the remote and realize the remote had no batteries. FUCK! Well I wasn't going to walk to the TV and turn it off so I just watched the video. The movie was new enough that I would not have been on TV yet and I was in campus housing so we didn't have any premium HBO type channels. With no other option I watch the entire video, creepy girl and all.

It turned out our campus TV station, which would show movies at night, decided to play the Ring. It was just by chance that I walked in at the exact right spot. As for my TV turning on by itself, the TV would turn on whenever I walked into a room and most of the time when some else walked in. This was one of the first times it turned on by itself, but not the last, it continued for four years and happened in four different houses/apartments. I still have no explanation for it.

I got my wisdom teeth out in 2000 right around the time that the original Matrix came out on VHS.

I once watched a show (goosebumps?) that was on an all day marathon of the same show. I didn't realize this and would go and would leave and go do other things to come back to the same show and see the same thing. I was convinced the show was about time travel because i kept seeing the same scene over and over.

This is most-likely related to taking percocet. After my appondectomy, doctors prescribed the same thing to me. I remember being loopy to the point that during a phone conversation with a friend, he started laughing and saying I wasn't making any sense. In the meantime, I hadn't noticed anything odd. Whilst laying in bed, the urge to grab something arose, so I naturally, and quickly, reached for thin air. Seconds later, I realized what I'd done and struggled in vain to justify it, and the pain it caused. Couldn't do it.

holy shit - when I had my wisdom teeth taken out in 05 or 06, I did the same thing with House of 1000 Corpses - I remember sleeping through most of it (I think I was on lortabs though) and I kept waking up when they had the 'performance' toward the end - with baby singing and the grandpa telling lewd jokes.. it's likely I just had the movie on repeat but I remember waking up to that part so many times.

This reminded me of an experience that happened to me and my family.. my brother was driving my mother and I home one day, a few years back.. when all the sudden my mother looks out the window (she's in the back seat, I'm tall and it sucks to get into the back) and says "Is that a car?"

I look out my window and see something in the sky.. it was dark colored, glossy, and looked incredibly like a 1980's model Cadillac.. we're all sober, it's just a little bit before sunset, and we're driving through the middle of my town. My brother looked over and saw it too, but didn't get a chance to look at it as much.. I could make out headlights, windshield, door handles, and tires.. everything really. It was above a highway and about 150 yds out.

TLDR - My family and I saw a flying car.

Sounds like an alternate-reality dude who drove a red car got into a car accident so hard his car actually was ejected from his reality. Though oddly, my dad had a red car that was in a bad accident, and the car was towed and placed in the driveway. One day, the car vanished from the driveway. He assumed that a neighbor must have been nice enough to get it hauled off (or the insurance company came to handle it), but no one called a towtruck, and the insurance company had left the remains of the car as my father's problem.

It had a bit of damage along one side (it was hit on the side by a black car that lost control) and the front was entirely crunched-in. He was lucky to not be missing his legs now.

A disturbing reality could be that if there was an a bad accident the driver could have been flung from the car. I've seen it

dude, it's not a glitch in the Matrix. The car crashed in an alternate universe, but the force and timing of the impact also caused it to break through to this universe. The driver didn't go with the car because his atoms weren't synced with the event (the car's obviously were)

I would bet the police who arrived at the scene of the crash after you called them would believe you. If you in fact experienced this. I would also expect a major news provider in your local area would have at least reported the crash. Somehow your story doesn't add up unless you are leaving out some major parts (like police and paramedics at the scene, etc)

My Dad used to drive tractor trailers for a really long time. One time at night he was making a left turn out of somewhere on to a small two lane road. Try to imagine the truck being in an L-shape as it starts to turn on to the far lane.

At night the trailer is kind of hard to see and only has a few lights on it. As he was turning a guy in a car came speeding down the road in the left lane (my dad was in the "right" lane as he was turning on to the road). The trailer was completely blocking the lane and going off the road still. The car was traveling at 80 mph and smashed into the rear tire on the trailer. Hitting the rubber launched the car all the way past the cabin of the truck, my dad wouldn't have even known he was hit if he didn't see the car flying past. The old guy driving the car was mostly unharmed, but he was ejected in to a ditch on the side of the road somewhere during the accident.

It might not be your car, but my point is that the car was launched into the air and landed well in front of the tractor trailer in the middle of the road. Because tractor trailers and bad drivers are so common, this might be an accident that repeats itself very often.

Turn signal on the highway? I am doubt.

This happened to me at my cousins house, he started to describe this dream he had. I had had the exact same dream, so I told him.
