account problems

  so my mojang account isnt linked to my minecraft account, what i mean by this is when i try to change my password and i enter the email it sends the email like its supposed to but when ever i try to use the new password it doesnt work, so then i went to the minecraft website right and it signed in with hotgodspeed, which is my username but when ever i sign out and sign back in with my email it goes to a new account, so i dont think my accounts are linked together because of this, how can i fix this?

also i can only access my hotgodspeed account if i sign in with microsoft and not email, but my microsoft account uses the same email as my other account
