A Cape-related suggestion

As you won't know but can check, I'm responsible for the removal of the Cape Code Redeem Endpoint, I reported the exploit some months back and detailed the negative effect it had on the community. As a TL;DR, it was inaccessible to the average Minecraft player meaning only account hackers/resellers knew of it's existence, allowing them to take advantage of Minecon attendees to steal their codes under the basis that only they can make them work / they don't work anymore.
Anyhow, my main issue stemmed from the inaccessibility to the average player, not the fact old codes could be redeemed via this endpoint. I initially believed 99% of all owners intent on using their codes would have prior to any removal, but I was wrong in this judgement.
I've since been contacted by many a close friends regarding attendees they've spoken to who're searching for a method to apply their codes, and in fact while many were being scammed of their codes the fault is upon Minecraft for not allowing them to be redeemed easily and not on the hackers/scammers tricking them.
I've conceived the perfect solution to allow all original cape owners to apply their old codes, while still blocking out any resale from occurring.
This, put simply, would be by directing attendees through to support agents to verify their attendance and apply the code. If you enabled them to email in with conclusive evidence they attended, ticket number or sharing the same address the codes were issued to, that they should be redeemable.
I deem this highly necessary as I now know dozens of attendees who're missing out as a consequence of the removal, which I feel in part liable for as I removed this endpoint.
Regardless of whether my suggestion is well received, via any form they should be useable to those who got them originally.
Apologies if this is less 'bug related' and more 'suggestions' but I felt as part of my personal involvement and subsequent guilt, that I should at least attempt to create a solution for these people who're just looking to enjoy something they received long ago.
Thank you kindly for the consideration and attention,
Joshua.
