When I try to make a minecraft account it keeps saying "Your profile name must be at least three characters long"

whenever i try to make an account on minecraft it keeps coming up with "Your profile name must be at least three characters long" even though my name is six characters long. I keep re-typing my name but it still comes up with it. I dont know how to solve this problem at the moment.
