Cannot login to multiplyer servers

Ok so my problem is logging onto online servers, of course, this question is common though, but see the problem with mines is that its taken over a day to fix itself but it hasn't and all the servers are running according to the server updates I stay posted to. I was banned on this one server and I thought hey let's make a fake free alt to get back on it...I thought wrong perhaps and have learned to never do that again but surely I don't know if I should uninstall Minecraft and then reinstall it or if it's just a technical problem....surely though I feel like I screwed it up by doing the free alt thing.
