Change Username or delete account to recreate with new username

Please either

1) update my username to Sparrowhawk

or

2) delete my account so I can recreate the account with Sparrowhawk as my username.

Upon creating my account I did not realize my username would also be my alias for public, unsecured communications such as bug reporting and commenting. 

Furthermore, I recommend users be able to delete their accounts themselves. Additionally, for an online setting such as this, it may be a good idea to allow the users to have a username for logging into the site and a separate alias used and displayed when interacting in a public manner. I understand that this system has not requested I share personal information and that the information I have and can share is provided willingly. However, on a security side, users should not see other users username when the username is used specifically for authentication. 

The benefit is that users have their authentication specific data separate from public interactions. Moreover, I understand a username is not typically something to be changed. Therefore, adding a  feature such as an (optional) alias may prove to allow users to set their alias to any appropriate “nickname” at any time while their potentially sensitive username is hidden. For example, when email is used for authentication into a web server, it is extremely rare the collection displays the users email to the public without allowing the user to specify if it should be public or private. In this case, we do not have the choice. Our username is displayed if we feel like participating in communications on this site.
