Pillager Captain in a boat causes crash and some loss

I trapped a Pillager Captain in a boat from a patrolling group and killed the other illagers. I came back to see the pillager captain after a couple hours and as I approach it, about 6-10 blocks away, My game freezes then crashes. 

 

The Pillager Captain did have an enchanted crossbow and a sheep also managed to get inside the boat. 

 

I reopened the game and I was back where I was a few seconds ago but different. Different because I thought it just sent me back to an old save but my horse was missing. I was riding that horse when I approached the Pillager Captain. I got another horse and approached the captain again. It crashed and my 2nd horse disappeared.

 

I then tried approaching without riding any horse and still crashed. I just killed the captain with a bow but both my horses disappeared.
