Render Distance on Realms :(

The render distance on my realm cant go past 10. I've heard how this may have been intended and it deeply saddens me. What's the point in playing (with or without friends) if you can't see a single thing. I hope this gets fixed or the update would have been for nothing for many people. What's minecraft without your friends?
