Unable to use hot bar slot 8

Currently on realms, Minecraft bedrock 1.18 on series x, breaking an item with all over slots full doesn't put the new item into slot 8, I also cannot put anything in there manually, it just stays on my hand and flickers and if it has but then has popped back out again

 

this resolved itself after 10 minutes, there was a shucker box in that space that I could not move or interact with but it eventually reappeared in the hot bar in slot 8
