Unable to rename any items with an anvil

When I try to rename an item in an anvil, it does not appear in the output square, instead, it puts an 'x' through the arrow. This is not an issue on normal worlds or before I updated Minecraft to 1.17.30.

To reproduce:

1. Go into a survival realm (this may affect creative realms as well).
2. Place an anvil.
3. Open the anvil UI and place any item into the left input slot.
4. Rename the item in the textbox.

Expected result:

The output slot shows the item with the new name, and underneath the output slot shows the number of levels needed to rename it. (see 'Expected result.png")

Actual result:

No item appears in the output slot, the arrow remains crossed out, and no experience cost appears. (see 'Actual result.png)

Additional notes:

I am not the owner of the realm, and I do not know for certain if anyone else has experienced this.
