Villagers locking trades when curing near a village

So I noticed that on PS4 realms whenever I would cure a zombie villager ( one that spawns as one in the wild and not a normal villager that has been turned) near a village that the profession of the villager  will be locked even though I didn't trade with them. I went to the nearby village and destroyed all work stations and yet I still can't change there proffesion. This happened to me on realms twice and only happens when I'm near a village. Is this a bug or working as intended.
