Realms not working?

So I wanted to play on my friends realm when it showed no one was online so I joined because usually there would be someone on it. So when I joined, i saw someone was on. thinking something was wrong with my game, I thought maybe restarting it would fix it. So I did. When iI got back on Minecraft, I went to the friends tab and where the realms were, it was just blank. so I waited because maybe it was still loading. So I did. After waiting a minute or so it said it couldn't load the realm. After an hour, it finally let me play. But, I saw it still said 0 player on the realm. So I reinstalled Minecraft and once I did, I loaded it up, went to the friends tab, and it still said 0 players. I don't know why and I don't know if it's a bug or just my computer. But neither ways i would like to see it fixed.
