Fail to maintain connection Realm

Friends and I have been running into the same issue all day.

Connect, get into game, but can't interact, rubberband around, then get kicked with error:

Connection Lost
Internal Exception: java.net.SocketException

Located in AZ, one friend had success using a VPN. Seems to have worked for him.

RECREATION STEPS:
1. Login to launcher
2. Connect to realm
3. Wait in realm until kick with above error
