Can't connect to specific realm

I was playing on a realm with my friends for a while and faced a bug so I decided to reconnect but when I try to reload I get stuck on the "Building Terrain" screen. It then takes forever to load and when I close out the tab it says I left the game without ever having a join message. This just started happening out of the blue and hasn't been working for a day or so now.
