Friends cannot join me and I cannot join friends

When first trying to join friends realm through invite, a screen saying “cannot connect to world” Pops up. This happens to each one of our realms. Unfortunately the only known solution is to punch in the invite code, but we’ve found that only works some of the time as well.

First, we get the standard “joining realm... this may take a few moments” message. After, say, 30 seconds, the message “unable to connect to realm” pops up, with the button at the bottom redirecting us to the main menu (We have the same issue with regular multiplayer worlds). We are all on the same version, our multiplayer preferences are set to friends of friends, and we have open nat types. Another thing worth mentioning is that when we join a realm successfully after failed attempts, we can join that same realm again with no problems.
