I can't enter my realm...

I just bought Minecraft yesterday, my friend invited me to join his realm. It does appear!! However, when I want to enter the realm, it just says connecting... I really need this problem sold. I have left Minecraft open trying to join the realm for over two hours and it stays the same. How can I fIx this?
