Maximum Conduit Power is pointless on realms

When building a maximum power conduit, the effect does not go the approriate distance. This seems to be due to the 4 chunk simulation distance. If I am not within sim distance of my conduit, my friend cannot use the conduit power. If I go near it, they can suddenly use the conduit's power. What's the point of the conduit in realms if I can't use it without another person having to be near it?
