Won't connect

I have been trying to get my son's world's from his old tablet to his new one and had to pay for a realms subscription in order to this. It was ,y understanding that this renewed automatically. When trying to access his Minecraft world's it tells me we cannot connect to realms right now and will try again later. It has been like this for days.

I am not sure how to find what version of Minecraft or realms I am using so I have just guessed. 

I have active connection to internet via WiFi and have connected to realms before this way with no issues.

Please help just want to get his world's transferred.
