Realm paid for but not created

When I try to make a realm all I get is a message "Your purchase succeeded, but we couldn't create your Realm right now. We will create your Realm as soon as possible. Check back later on this device". I tried looking online for an answer and didn't find any explanations or fixes besides getting a refund.
