Connecting to the realm problem

I am in version 1.16.1 (But it doesn't let me type 1.16.1 in the "Affects Version/s" box), and I use a MacBook Mini Air when Parallel Toolsbox installed (in case you need specs). When I try to play on my friend's realm, it gets stuck on the "Connecting to the realm" page for more than 30 minutes. This issue started to happen a few weeks ago, but before that it was completely fine.
