Bred villagers have parents profession and will not change

I made a villager breeding pen to try and get some villagers for a custom village.  In order to do this, I used 2 zombies I cured that ended up being an armorer and a cleric.  in the farm, there are compost bins and no other profession blocks.  The villagers breed and I have made multiple baby villagers, but when they grow up, they do not take the farmer trade.  Interacting with them, they come with exp values even though I have never done a trade with either the kids or the original parents.
