Unable to connect to multiplayer games

For a couple weeks now I have been unable to connect to my friends games, worlds or realms. The load screen comes up and says “connecting to multiplayer game” then changes to “generating world-locating server” and just stays there. I’ve left it for 30 minutes thinking maybe it was a one time thing, but it didn’t work and continues to happen. I am typically in the same room/house as the other players and they have no issues getting to their worlds. I’ll attempt to join and it will not progress.
