io.netty.channel REALMS error message - unable to play for 48 hours

unable to access Realms for 2 days now.  I have the host account.

have seen similar tickets raised but with slightly different error message

this is the error message
io.netty.channel.ConnectTimeoutException: Connection Timed Out

 

have checked firewall and rebooted system.  no players are able to access and unable to access other friends realms either.
