Changes to realm aren't saving and not loading beyond a few blocks.

I have minecraft realms for Nintendo switch, and have been facing several problems since starting. Problems begin when I am not able to load the game with the 'Loading Resource Packs' screen taking a long time and then timing out. If I do manage to get in my realm the animations for breaking blocks do not play, and none of my progress is saved. In creative mode I can only fly within a few blocks and the map doesn't load beyond. There are many times I have had to restart my realm in the past as it has become unplayable. I have reset the realm a few times and the problem persists. Can you suggest what might be the problem(s)?
