crash with custom resource pack

When I attempt to download a custom resource pack used within the realm (not from marketplace) the pack will stop downloading after 10%, crash the game, and any further reloads cause minecraft to be stuck in offline until full restart of computer. Even force closing and reloading the game results in minecraft staying in offline mode until full computer restart. Other applications, games, and internet browser still work online post minecraft crash and pre computer restart.
