Set Respawn doesn't work

I have a realm set up from the Switch bedrock version. This has affected myself and a friend. Upon setting a bed and sleeping, our respawn point has brought us back to spawn without any obstruction to the bed or occupancy. So far this has been reproduced 5/5 attempts. This is almost game breaking for me, as I might have to be forced to turn keep inventory on, where we won't get achievements
