Error when creating a realm

I recently attempted to purchase a realms subscription for one of my worlds on Minecraft on Nintendo Switch. I added the necessary funds and made the purchase, but while the realm was being created, an error message popped up, stating, "Your purchase was successful but the realm could not be created at this time. Please check back on this device later." Nothing has change and it has been a few hours. 

 

The funds have been taken out of my account, but a realm has not been created. Either I should still have the funds, or this world should have become a realm.
