Tamed Horses Disappearing

Playing on a realm (not as the host, although everyone in the realm is also experiencing this issue) with 2 others and having an issue with tamed horses - they keep disappearing on us.

Our horses will disappear every now and then when we dismantle them. After a few minutes, they sometimes reappear a few blocks away, however more often than not, they just disappear.

We have also had them disappear when they're in the stable (enclosed and fenced-in building structure) or tied to a post via a lead.

For the time being, we have been removing the saddle/armor when getting off the horses so we do not lose our saddles/armor, however if our horse disappears, we are left to find a new horse to tame.
