Realm not showing up - giving account not set up

I was just playing in my Minecraft realm and I switched users and got a controller not connected error...but I was able to use controller. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, rebooting system...no change. Finally went back to my original user and now getting an error telling me that my permissions don't allow realms? I have a subscription and haven't changed any settings. My realm wasn't even showing any more?
