Censored Signs Glitched

I am trying to make a memorial wall, with Obsidian, and Birch Signs.  Issue is that I cant write on signs.   After place the sign goes blank or I get #### for part of it

James Alexander is fine   but James Allred is switched to ##### Allred.....  I made 1400 signs  2 out of ten were placed the rest went blank or #### in part of the name....

Please help I have a huge project sitting there in middle of realm.
