Can't accept a realm invite

I try to accept a realm invite from my friend but it says I cannot play online multiplayer through Xbox Live because of how my account is set up. I try contacting Microsoft support but the websites won't load and I also can't access my privacy settings to change it. Last time I checked I had everything allowed and don't know why I can't join realms. I am able to play with friends on regular worlds.
