Chest Drops Not Working

I was playing on an MCPE Realms server that I own, and I went to break my valuables chest to move them somewhere else. Unfortunately, upon breaking the chest I did not receive any items, just two empty chests. As you can probably tell, I was quite annoyed at this as I had many valuable items in my chest such as diamonds, gold and enchanted books which I had worked very hard to obtain. I don't quite know why the chest didn't drop its contents, but I would like to know.
