after closing game the avatar is somewhere else when starting game

I'm playing in creative/peaceful mode.  When I close my game in my realm, I leave the avatar at a certain place, but when I start again the next evening, the avatar is often at a different place and has left a trail of damage. Sometimes it is where I left it.
