terrain rendering issues

On a realm, flying around my world causes rendering problems. Random chunks are rendered in and then disappear after a few seconds. Sometimes, crashes occur when flying.

Steps to reproduce:

1. My world is from 2019, before updates to the chunk rendering engine, but I don't know if it only affects old worlds.
