"Cannot play on realms because of how your account is set up"

Issue is saying "you cannot play on realms because of how your Microsoft account is set up". The link to help fix this describes how to change settings on a child account. My account is not set to child and my settings are all set to allow yet it is still saying the same. I am still paying for realms and now can't even cancel.
