Nobody can join unless I'm on

Nobody can join my realm when I'm not online. The minute I join my realm, my friends are able to finally join as well.

What I expected to happen was...:
In the past, my friends have been able to come and go as they please if I'm online or offline like a realm should.

What actually happened was...:
After this recent update, I might as well not even have a realm anymore because now my friends can't join the world, it keeps saying unable to join world. But the second I join the realm, my friends have no problem connecting.
