Realms Won't Switch My World

My realm won't let me join or switch my realm. I've been trying for a few hours but it only makes me wait on the "Switching worlds" screen or "Joining Realm" screen for as long as it takes for my computer to say I was unsuccessful in joining or switching. Please let me know if this is just me, or if it is an actual issue.
