signs, books, chat, and renamed items don't work properly.

when placing a sign and writing anything in it the entire text will get deleted me and my friends cannot talk over chat, a book my friend has been writing in got the entire left side of every page deleted and renaming items results in '#######.' this problem arose 2 days ago, and we are not sure how to even fix this issue. deleting old signs doesn't seem to fix anything.
